How to Pair Your Phone with INFINITI Bluetooth & Wireless Apple CarPlay

Ditch the cables and stay connected with this step-by-step integration guide.

The days of fumbling with tangled Lightning cables are drawing to a close. Modern INFINITI models—like the QX50, QX55, and the flagship QX80—now feature Wireless Apple CarPlay and robust Bluetooth integration for Android users. Whether you're chasing the perfect playlist or navigating via Waze, getting your phone to talk to your InTouch™ system is the first step to a premium drive.

For the iPhone User: Wireless Apple CarPlay

If your INFINITI supports wireless CarPlay (typically 2022 models and newer), the setup uses a "handshake" between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Here is how to initiate it:

  1. Activate Bluetooth: On your iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and ensure it is turned on.
  2. Infotainment Setup: On your INFINITI screen, press the MENU hard key, then select Connections > Devices > Add New.
  3. The Handshake: Select your vehicle's name (e.g., "MY-CAR") on your iPhone. A PIN will appear on both screens; ensure they match and hit "Pair."
  4. Enable CarPlay: A pop-up will appear on your iPhone asking if you want to use CarPlay. Select "Use CarPlay." The car will then prompt you to enable the wireless connection. Accept this, and the CarPlay home screen will launch automatically.

For the Android User: Bluetooth & Android Auto

While many INFINITIs still require a USB cable for Android Auto, the Bluetooth pairing process remains the gold standard for hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming.

  • Step 1: Put your phone in "Discovery Mode" by staying in the Bluetooth settings menu.
  • Step 2: On the INFINITI display, navigate to Settings > Bluetooth > Connect Device > Add New.
  • Step 3: Select your phone's name from the list on the dashboard. Confirm the pairing code on your Android device.
  • Step 4: Crucial Step: Accept the request on your phone to "Allow access to contacts and call history" so your car's voice commands can find your friends.

Troubleshooting: Solving "Pairing Failed"

Technology isn't perfect. If you’re seeing a "Connection Failed" or "Pairing Failed" error message, try these dealership-verified fixes:

Problem The Fix
System won't find phone Ensure you aren't in Airplane Mode or Low Power Mode, which can throttle Bluetooth discovery.
Pairing Memory Full INFINITI systems usually hold 5 devices. Delete old phones from the "Connections" menu before adding a new one.
Wireless CarPlay won't launch Ensure Siri is enabled on your iPhone. CarPlay requires Siri to function for safety.
Infinite "Loading" screen Perform a "Soft Reset" of the InTouch system: Hold down the Audio Volume knob for about 10 seconds until the screen reboots.
Pro Tip: For the most stable connection, ensure your phone is running the latest OS update. Apple and Google frequently release "Bluetooth stability" patches that fix known bugs with automotive head units.

Once paired, your INFINITI will automatically recognize your device every time you start the engine, allowing you to keep your phone in your pocket and your focus on the open road.
